Eight people were injured when a 45-year old man, Mohamed Soliman, yelling “Free Palestine” threw incendiary devices at a June 1 demonstration of all or mostly Jewish individuals who were gathered to remember the Israeli hostages who remain in captivity in Gaza. The perpetrator said that he had planned for this for some time, and wanted to see people killed as a blow against the “Zionist” element. He had sixteen more Molotov cocktails, which he didn’t have time to utilize as police and concerned citizens moved against him fairly quickly. Eight people were injured but no one was killed.
FBI Director Kash Patel described the incident as a “targeted terror attack,” and Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser said it appeared to be “a hate crime given the group that was targeted.” Boulder Police Chief Stephen Redfearn said he did not believe anyone else was involved. “We’re fairly confident we have the lone suspect in custody,” he said.
