Russia's Envoy Says Putin-Trump 'Dialogue Works ... Major De-Escalation Opportunity'

Kirill Dmitriev, CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund and Russian President Putin’s chief negotiating partner with U.S. President Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff, posted in English on his X account on June 8, accompanied by graphics:

“Putin–Trump dialogue led to historic shift in Russian public opinion.

“• Russians naming the U.S. as ‘hostile’ dropped from 75% to 40%

“• Support for normalizing ties with the West jumped from 52% to 80%

“Dialogue works. People listen.

“Major deescalation opportunity.”

Putin and Trump held their fourth conversation of 2025, on June 4.
