Although the Russian military struck Ukraine heavily overnight on June 5, including targeting drone-production facilities in that country, it appears that this is not yet the response that Russian President Vladimir Putin advised President Donald Trump, in their June 4 phone call, would be coming, in response to the June 1 drone attacks on their strategic bombers. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that Putin had indeed said that to Trump, but would go no further, when asked what the nature of the response would be.

The U.S. embassy in Kiev issued a security alert on Wednesday, June 4, right after the Trump-Putin call, warning of a “continued risk of significant air attacks,” according to RT, adding that “the U.S. State Department has advised Americans currently in Ukraine to identify shelter locations in advance and keep reserves of water, food, and medication.”
