CGTN’s “The World Today” radio broadcast today spoke with Helga Zepp-LaRouche to get her assessment on China-Europe cooperation in light of the talks between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and German Foreign Affairs Minister Johann Wadephul in Berlin.
Zepp-LaRouche: “I think it’s very promising, because both sides have expressed a willingness to increase cooperation. However, given the extraordinary tensions, like in the Middle East, where in the recent period international law has de facto broken down, I think something more would be needed, like an initiative to reinstall international law in international relations. And I think that between Europe and China, such discussions could occur, but it would require that Europe change its attitude. They should just stop the idea of ‘de-risking,’ and I also think the qualification of China as a ‘systemic revival’ is not timely anymore, because it came from an awareness in Europe that Europe is stagnating while China is rising, and therefore there was an unfounded fear about China. But I think this is a time for initiatives to bring the relationship between China and Europe to a completely new level.”
