The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) announced today that a “special operation ... personally led by the Head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Lt. Gen. Vasyl Malyuk” got into a shoot-out with the “agent-combat group of the FSB of the Russian Federation"—a man and a woman who “on the instructions of the FSB ... committed the murder of an employee of the Security Service of Ukraine, our brother, Col. Ivan Voronych.”
Malyuk not only led the shoot-out, but also issued the SBU statement. He described the death of the two: “According to the results of covert search, active counterintelligence measures, the enemy lair was revealed. During the detention, they began to resist, there was fire contact, so the scoundrels were eliminated. I want to remind you that the only prospect of the enemy on the territory of Ukraine is death!” said Vasyl Malyuk.
The statement said that the FSB sent the two into Ukraine to track Voronych. Then, “they gave the killers the coordinates of the cache where the pistol with a silencer was located. Having murdered the colonel of the Security Service, the killers tried to ‘lie down.’ But the SSU and the National Police established their whereabouts in the Kyiv region. This morning, a special operation was carried out,” the two “began to resist, so they were eliminated.”
