Republican Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley announced July 10 that the Department of Energy (DOE) is canceling its Grain Belt Express project. This was a wing ding $11 billion green project to send electricity from the “wind belt” from Kansas across Missouri and Illinois to Indiana, whose only apparent reason for construction was to maintain the myth that the solar and wind energy produced in Kansas was worth the huge investment. (Kansas and Iowa have the highest percentage of wind and solar in the U.S.)
Hawley’s X post announcing the DOE’s decision to cancel the project followed his conversation with President Donald Trump and Energy Secretary Chris Wright. The post also called the Grain Belt Express a “green scam” that is “costing taxpayers BILLIONS.”
