Just hours after his middle-of-the-night video address to the country, where he explained that he had to take control over the “independent” agencies in Ukraine that investigate corruption (of course, due to Russian influence over them), Ukraine’s acting president tried to get the outbreak of demonstrations yesterday to give him time.

He posted an explanation of his actions, in which he stated: “I gathered all heads of Ukraine’s law enforcement and anti-corruption agencies, along with the Prosecutor General. It was a much-needed meeting—a frank and constructive conversation that truly helps. We all share a common enemy: the Russian occupiers.... And those who work against Ukraine must not feel comfortable or immune to the inevitability of punishment.” He promised that his “Team Ukraine,” centered around the SBU and the Prosecutor General controlling NABU (National Anti-Corruption Bureau), will “in two weeks” present their “joint plan” to “deliver greater justice and truly protect the interests of Ukrainian society.”

But Zelenskyy is now being hit from all sides. U.S. President Donald Trump questioned whether Kiev had actually used U.S. aid for defense needs. “Biden gave away $350 billion worth of equipment or cash. Worse than equipment—cash.… They were supposed to buy their own equipment. But I have a feeling they didn’t spend every dollar on the equipment. We want to find out about that, someday, I guess, right?”
