China Denies German Press Report That Beijing Would Send Peacekeepers to Ukraine

The German publication Welt am Sonntag published a report on August 23 claiming that China was willing to send peacekeepers to Ukraine as part of a peace arrangement to end the conflict. Die Welt’s sources were not Chinese, but rather EU diplomats who cited Chinese officials saying Beijing would be willing to send soldiers “if the peacekeeping forces were deployed on the basis of a mandate from the United Nations (UN).”
