In a long interview with Giacomo Gabellini’s YouTube podcast “Il Contesto: Analisi economica e geopolitica”, retired Italian Gen. Fabio Mini minced no words on the imbecility of European governments that complain about being excluded from U.S.-Russia negotiations.
“The Europeans remain at the door as always, but it’s better this way,” Mini said. “They went beyond the limit of stupidity,” maybe because “ they see another reality… But even with this limit, I still get the impression that these people are really afraid, in a state of panic, complete panic, they can’t get out of it, and since Trump has understood this and the Russians have understood it too, it suits them that these people are in a state of panic, it suits them that they shout, shout, get in the newspapers, and make up the most absurd lies, because the more lies they tell, the more they show that they are in a panic, and if they are in a panic, they are offside.”
As for the agenda in Anchorage, “Ukraine is one of many issues, certainly not the main one, that the United States and Russia will have to deal with. There are nuclear weapons, for example.” It will be an opportunity to discuss a new INF treaty, for instance.
