On Sept. 28, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko responded strongly to questions from Russia’s VGTRK journalist Pavel Zarubin, regarding NATO’s recent policy statement about shooting down Russian or Belarusian aircraft. Lukashenko stated that the policy was “foolish and ill-considered,” and sharply warned that any such attack would receive an “instant” response, reported TASS. Lukashenko’s comments were also broadcast on the Telegram channel “Pul Pervogo,” which is connected to the Belarusian head of state’s press service, BelTA.
He contrasted NATO’s reactions with how Belarus had proactively warned Poland about 9 to 12 drones that were enroute to Poland and couldn’t be intercepted over their own territory.
