At the same time that the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is moving to make taking the COVID-19 vaccine a “personal decision,”
the prestigious Pasteur Institute in Paris has issued further warnings about the dangers of “long COVID.” In tests by the Institute on animals, they found that 80 days after the initial infection, there was the presence of viral RNA of SARS of the Wuhan, Delta and Omicron variants, in particular on the brainstems of the animals.
The Pasteur Institute statement said: “Further analysis revealed viral replication activity in tissues, suggesting that the virus can continue to infect new cells even though the viral load is low. It therefore appears that the virus is able to persist at low levels in the brainstem.”
