Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinians, but it’s the fault of everybody but Israel. That was in effect what the dangerously stupid U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio told reporters in Ecuador on Sept. 4, when an AFP reporter asked him about reports that Israel was considering annexing the West Bank. For good measure, he also indicated that the Palestinian Authority is also a target.
“I mean, the Palestinian Authority has its own set of problems—pay for slay—they pay people to kill Israelis. We have problems with them, too,” said Rubio, according to the State Department transcript. “Obviously, Hamas is at a different category, but we have—look, we told all these countries—we told them all—we said if you guys do this recognition stuff—it’s all fake, it’s not even real—if you do it, you’re going to create really big problems. You’re going to—there’s going to be a response from Israel. You’re going to make it harder to get a ceasefire and it may even trigger these sorts of actions that you’ve seen or at least these attempts at these actions. …
