Europeans To Hit Trump with Their ‘Peace Board’ Plan for Ukraine

Bloomberg, citing people familiar with the matter, said on Oct. 21 that Ukraine and its European backers have prepared a 12-point peace plan that would rule out territorial concessions to Russia. In obvious imitation of U.S. President Donald Trump’s “Board of Peace” for Gaza, they reportedly include a “peace board” chaired by Trump to oversee its implementation.

They plan on sending a contingent to Washington this week to meet with Trump. The plan, reportedly, includes a ceasefire along the current front lines, and Ukraine would get “security guarantees” and fast-tracked EU accession. The regions that voted to rejoin Russia—Crimea in 2014, and Lugansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporozhye, all in 2022—would not be recognized as Russian. Rather, Russia and Ukraine would be left to negotiate “the governance of occupied territories”—creating the opportunity for fresh conflicts at any time chosen.
