The Lead
To Defeat British Tricks, You Must Wield Real Ideas
by Stewart Battle (EIRNS) — Nov. 16, 2025
Seen from the standpoint of grand strategy, the British Empire and its allies within the neoliberal establishment cannot but be eagerly hoping that the Trump administration will abandon its promises and charge into a new era of superpower confrontation. Many key issues point in this direction. For example, the USS Gerald Ford, the U.S.’s largest and most advanced aircraft carrier, has now arrived in the Caribbean, positioned for a major escalation in a war against Venezuela. While nominally aimed against the Maduro regime, in reality, this conflict is aimed at severing Ibero-America’s relationship to China and the BRICS as a whole. Recent talk from both Secretary of State Marco Rubio as well as President Donald Trump himself, that the past 30 years of interdicting drug-smuggling vessels has failed, indicates that there is a desire to proceed with further escalations regardless of international or Constitutional law.
Another example is the case of newly inaugurated Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, who appears to be ready to rip up Japan’s decades-old positions that have maintained peace with its largest neighbor, China. This includes her recent statement threatening to use military force in the event of a Chinese invasion of Taiwan. There is reportedly also discussion of changing Japan’s “three principles” regarding nuclear weapons, which forbid Japan to possess, produce, or introduce nuclear weapons into its territory. Such bellicose statements have predictably set off alarms and stern warnings from China, threatening to destabilize this prime target of the Anglo-Americans and corrode the possibility of a collaborative relationship with the U.S.
Further licking their chops, these British imperialists have been hoping that the war in Ukraine could spiral into a direct war between NATO and Russia. Such was likely the intention behind the alleged plot to steal a Russian fighter jet and fly it toward one of the largest NATO bases in Europe last week. As Russia’s federal security service reported, the leading role in the foiled plot was played by the British, who planned the entire thing for their Ukrainian assets. From this standpoint, it should be asked who is giving Trump the supposed intelligence that both Russia and China have been secretly testing nuclear weapons, an allegation that has now prompted a dangerous debate about resuming these tests for the first time in more than 30 years.
It is clear that attempts are being made to initiate destabilizations and prevent the type of collaborative approach among the world’s leading nations. And it’s also clear that President Trump has proven to be more than somewhat susceptible to these tricks. Happily for the side of humanity, however, these lurches are being opposed at every turn. Take the case of the growing debate within the United States about who actually controls U.S. policy, and why it seems to always leave the public good in last place. Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, who has repeatedly criticized Trump for abandoning his pledge to start no new wars, has become a focal point after coming under harsh attack by the President. Interestingly, Greene has begun attacking the “political industrial complex” which attempts to divide people, insisting instead that Americans “have far more in common than we have apart"—an idea which, if pursued rigorously and with leadership, could transform the political debate in the country. There’s no doubt these questions are also crossing the minds of citizens across Europe and beyond, who have also been left out to dry by similar policies.
This is being displayed in full color in the case of Ukraine, whose armed forces are now facing total collapse across the frontlines and whose government is facing a nasty corruption scandal that is surrounding President Zelenskyy.
The way out of this crisis is not to rest your hopes on Donald Trump—or any other potential leader who makes promises to save the day. Instead, it is to realize that real ideas have power, and that citizens across the West, who have been hoodwinked and manipulated for years, have never been hungrier for real answers. That is the power which was just shown at the Solidarité & Progrès-Schiller Institute conference in Paris, which had participation from over a dozen countries around the world and focused on the creation of an international youth movement. Be sure to watch the conference proceedings to get the full impact.
The tide globally is beginning to turn toward a new security and development architecture, but your efforts are needed to actually make it a reality.
