Nationally, residential electric bills in the United States were 6% higher in August than in August 2024, according to a report in CNBC Nov. 18. That’s painful enough for households. But in the states with the most data centers, it was moreso: 15.8% higher in Illinois; 13% higher in Virginia; 12% higher in Ohio; though just 3.8% higher in Texas.
