In a public release on Nov. 6, Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) named Britain’s major geopolitical think tank Chatham House (RIIA) as involved in planning sabotage of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant and in orchestrating a media campaign to lay blame for the nuclear disaster at the feet of the Russians. It stated: “The West is said to be considering orchestrating an accident at the Zaporozhye NPP, Europe’s largest nuclear power facility, that would lead to a meltdown of the reactor core,” wrote RT.
The SVR claimed they have received data indicating that “European NATO officials are urging the Kyiv regime to urgently seek ways to change the course of the Ukrainian conflict,” via “a major act of sabotage, resulting in casualties among Ukrainians and residents of EU countries, similar to the tragedy of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 in 2014. In this regard, the option of sabotaging the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, resulting in a meltdown of its nuclear reactor cores, is being considered,” the SVR release declares. “The influential British NGO Chatham House has already calculated the consequences of such an accident. Data from a specially conducted computer modeling showed that … residents of Kyiv-controlled areas and citizens of EU countries near Ukraine’s western border would be within the spread of radioactive particles.”
