Dohnanyi: No Peace with Geopolitics, Extreme Ukrainian Nationalists

In a nearly two-page interview with Swiss daily Neue Zürcher Zeitung on Dec. 22, German Social Democrat Klaus von Dohnanyi, 97, blames the Eastward expansion of NATO, extremist Ukrainian nationalism in the Bandera tradition, and the attempts by Western geopoliticians such as Paul Wolfowitz to destroy German relations to Russia, as making peace impossible. Russia certainly has its own interests, but not taking these interests into account, and thus leaving dialogue with Russia as the job of U.S. President Donald Trump, without supporting it, is a grave mistake by the Europeans. They show disinterest in their own future which can only exist in an architecture of peace, Dohnanyi declares.
