NATO Officially Disbands NATO-Russia Council

Poland’s neo-con foreign minister, Radoslaw Sikorski, told reporters following yesterday’s NATO foreign ministers meeting, that the NATO-Russia Council has been dissolved and that the NATO-Russia Founding Act, in which the two sides agreed they were no longer enemies, has been repealed.

“Among the formal decisions, I ask you to note the Secretary General’s statement that the NATO-Russia Council no longer exists,” Sikorski stated at a press conference broadcast by TVP Info, reported TASS. “The NATO-Russia Council and the NATO-Russia Founding Act are no longer in effect,” he added.

In Moscow, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev shed no tears for the formal end of the NATO-Russia Council, which had been moribund for some time anyway. “NATO squawked gleefully about killing off the Russia-NATO Council. I must admit, I share their excitement. NATO is our enemy. What ‘council’ are we even talking about? There’s only one way to deal with enemies. As [Maxim] Gorky put it: ‘If the enemy doesn’t surrender, he is destroyed’,” he wrote in English on his X page.
