Pope Leo XIV Warns U.S. Not To Take Armed Action Against Venezuela

Asked by a reporter, on his plane ride back from Lebanon, about U.S. President Donald Trump’s ultimatum to Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro to resign or face U.S. military removal, Pope Leo XIV, speaking in Spanish, urged dialogue rather than military action.

“At the level of the Bishops’ Conference and with the Nuncio, we are trying to find a way to calm the situation, seeking above all the good of the people, because in these situations it is the people who suffer, not the authorities,” he said.
