After two to three days of European bloviating in Berlin meetings with each other, Ukraine acting President Zelenskyy, and Steve Witkoff and other representatives of U.S. President Donald Trump, the Europeans have reportedly produced a “document” with their Ukraine proposal—which predictably crosses a good half-dozen Russian red lines.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was asked about the European document, to which he responded: “We have not seen any texts yet. When we see them, we will analyze them.”

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov gave an interview to ABC News which included far more blunt language. Ryabkov began by reiterating that Russia is “appreciative” of the Trump administration efforts to end the conflict, and that Russia “stands firm” with the Anchorage approach agreed upon by Putin and Trump at their Aug. 15 summit. As for the Berlin discussions: “We have no idea what transpired there.” They are trying to put through a “deep and very wrong” revision of the U.S. peace proposal.
