Senior AfD Party Politician Insists Germany Should Quit NATO

Jörg Urban, Saxony’s AfD state chairman and head of the party’s group in the Saxony state parliament, raised the possibility in detail that Germany should leave NATO, speaking on Dec. 12. In response to bellicose statements by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Urban wrote on his Telegram channel: “The stated goal of Germany’s NATO membership is to protect our country. But in reality, it is increasingly becoming a security risk for Europe.” If warmongers like Rutte continue to set the pace for European governments, it is only a matter of time before a “forward defense” against Russia is demanded. The Saxony state party leader is therefore calling for a neutral and alliance-free Germany, following the example of neighboring Austria and Switzerland.
