U.S. Lawmakers Call for Pressure Over Gaza Ceasefire

Israel’s conduct in Gaza and the occupied West Bank is drawing growing criticism in Washington. Nearly 50 Democratic members of Congress urged President Donald Trump to address what they described as Israeli ceasefire violations in Gaza and to consider withholding U.S. assistance if attacks continue, Middle East Eye reported.

The lawmakers cited Israel’s “bombardment against civilians, destruction of property and insufficient delivery of humanitarian aid,” arguing these actions jeopardize the ceasefire. While acknowledging Hamas violations, they described Israel’s response as “severe and disproportionate,” resulting in massive civilian casualties. The letter was led by Representatives Mark Pocan and Madeleine Dean and endorsed by Jewish advocacy groups including J Street, the New Jewish Narrative, and Win Without War.
