A joint statement was issued on Dec. 9 by representatives of the Russian and American business communities after a meeting held in Dubai and organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia and Roscongress. The statement announced, as reported by RT, the institutionalization of such meetings, with contacts between the two communities in a motivated and politically unbiased format. It reported that the participants discussed opportunities in investment, industry, technology, and infrastructure projects. The Dubai session reportedly “focused on prospects for cooperation, rebuilding mutual trust, and restoring company-to-company links.”
Sergey Katyrin, president of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, led the Russian contingent, with AmCham Russia President and CEO Robert Agee heading the U.S. side. Katyrin said: “Russian and American companies continue to seek solutions for implementing investment, industrial, technological, and infrastructure projects.” Agee noted: “It is crucial for businesses to maintain working communication channels.” He expressed an interest in “practical cooperation with Russian partners where possible.”
