The U.S. Administration’s plans to control Venezuela’s oil resources could turn into one of the most expensive and complex geopolitical operations imaginable, the Chinese edition of Sohu News reported Jan. 10.
“Most of the reserves are superheavy oil, which is very different from light Middle Eastern oil. Its high viscosity makes it look like asphalt at room temperature, and its significant sulfur and metal content requires sophisticated extraction technologies,” the news agency said. The grab for the oil could therefore be a costly boomerang for the U.S., they suggest.
