At a Berlin press conference on Jan. 8, an international petition to “Free Jacques Baud,” with a call included for ending German support for the war in Ukraine, was presented by author Patrik Baab, BSW politician Sevim Dağdelen, and peace activist Laura von Wimmersperg, all three of whom are from Germany.
Baud’s situation as a sanctioned person is worse than being in prison, Dagdelen said. The sanctioning of the Swiss analyst aims to destroy his civil existence, “without criminal proceedings, without court judgments, without a hearing.” The EU is thereby establishing “a system of terrible censorship” that sends “a person into internal exile” and imposes a de facto ban on working, without that person having committed any crime.
