Make Crazy Crazy Again: Ten New Yorkers Have Died of Exposure in Below-Freezing Weather

So far, since last Sunday’s snowstorm on Jan. 25, which has been accompanied by abnormally low temperatures, at least 10 New York City residents have died on the city streets. According to Mayor Zohran Mamdani, most or all of them were homeless.

In the last two days there were two incidents of homeless men, who were seeking shelter in subway cars, assaulting police officers who were trying to remove them.

Mamdani said that while he has generally opposed forcibly moving people into warming centers, he may have to reconsider his policy if they are likely to “cause harm to themselves or others.”

Remember that 90% of the inpatient psychiatric beds available in New York State in 1958 have been eliminated, recreational marijuana is available in legal pot shops on every block, and the average monthly rental cost for a tiny studio apartment in the city is $3,200. Hmmm. Who caused this mess?
