Another U.S. aircraft carrier has deployed. Forbes reported on Jan. 24 that the USS Theodore Roosevelt departed Naval Air Station North Island, San Diego, on Jan. 21, resuming operational activities after completing maintenance. In a Facebook post, the U.S. Pacific Fleet confirmed that the carrier had begun her current deployment, but did not confirm where the ship is heading.
This makes three U.S. aircraft carriers underway, not counting the USS Gerald R. Ford, which at last report was still in the Caribbean. The USS George H.W. Bush departed Norfolk, Virginia, on Jan. 13, and the USS Abraham Lincoln is in the Indian Ocean, likely arriving in the Arabian Sea sometime this week. Whether the Roosevelt and/or the Bush will also be going to Southwest Asia remains to be seen.
