Ukraine Requests Emergency UN Security Council Meeting in Response to Oreshnik Strike

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha posted on X after the Oreshnik strike that “Such a strike close to EU and NATO border is a grave threat to the security on the European continent and a test for the transatlantic community. We demand strong responses to Russia’s reckless actions.” AP reports that Ukraine has requested an emergency meeting of the Security Council, and TASS reported that such a meeting has now been scheduled to be held on Monday, Jan. 12, at 3 p.m. local time.
