AI Goes MAD—But That Doesn't Mean You Should
by Dennis Small (EIRNS) — Feb. 27, 2026
It should come as no surprise that, in recent computerized war exercises carried out at King’s College London with the use of a number of advanced AI programs, in fully 95% of the cases the AI software escalated the posed geopolitical crises and decided to use tactical nuclear weapons. An amazing 76% of the cases made use of strategic nuclear weapons.
That is what happens when you don’t think outside the box—and of course AI is axiomatically incapable of thinking outside the box, since it is the box and is only capable of linear extension of what is already known to it.
The doctrine of Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD) is built on the axiom that nuclear powers have opposed and conflicting essential interests, and that the only way to avoid nuclear annihilation is by each side fearing that they will be destroyed as well if they use a nuclear weapon.
If you axiomatically exclude the common interest of the One Humanity, that’s what you get. No wonder AI took it to nuclear war nearly every time. But what if we were to think creatively, and design and then build a new security architecture based on a cooperative view of Man?
This is, of course, a philosophical matter; but it is also a very concrete and practical issue facing the planet today.
Full-scale war between Iran and the U.S., likely including Israel, could be just around the corner. The U.S. embassy in Tel Aviv is urging non-emergency staffers to “get expeditiously out of the country,” ASAP. The British government has pulled its embassy personnel out of Iran. The Chinese government has urged its nationals to also leave Iran. And U.S. Vice President JD Vance—widely associated with the MAGA networks most opposed to foreign wars—told the Washington Post on Feb. 26 with consummate sophistry: “I do think we have to avoid repeating the mistakes of the past. I also think that we have to avoid overlearning the lessons of the past. Just because one president screwed up a military conflict doesn’t mean we can never engage in military conflict again.”
The Iran crisis is extraordinarily dangerous. Worse still, hanging like a pall over the entire planet is the locked-and-loaded decision by controlling elements of the Anglo-American Establishment to escalate to a nuclear confrontation against Russia—just like 95% of the AI models did. Earlier this week, Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) provided a detailed memorandum revealing a plan by the British and French governments to provide Kiev with a nuclear weapon. A good dozen top-level Russian officials, from President Vladimir Putin on down, have publicly repeated the SVR’s warning, advising that Russia will be obligated to use their own nuclear weapons before they will allow that to happen.
What is even more eerie is that there has been a deafening silence coming from the United States and other NATO governments on this gravest of matters: They have simply not deigned to respond to the Russian charges, let alone refute them.
As former Judge Andrew Napolitano told RT in a Feb. 26 interview, this would be a catastrophic escalation. He added: “The Brits cannot use or give away any nuclear capability, nuclear weapons, or nuclear know-how without American permission. Why [British] Prime Minister [Keir] Starmer would even be discussing this with [French] President [Emmanuel] Macron and with [Volodymyr] Zelenskyy is beyond me, unless the United States has already agreed to it,” he argued.
That should be more than enough motivation to make sure that you, your contacts and friends all participate in the March 2 EIR roundtable dialogue on designing a new security and development architecture.
