Cut Off by Ukraine, Hungary Seeks Alternative Oil Imports via Croatia

Two days after Ukraine company Ukrtransnafta decided on Feb. 13 not to resume oil transfers via the Druzhba pipeline, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said that Budapest and Bratislava, Slovakia had asked their Balkan neighbor Croatia to allow the transportation of Russian oil via the Trans Adriatic pipeline, as Ukraine had blocked oil supplies via the Druzhba pipeline. Croatia agreed to the option, citing the EU’s rule emphasizing the need to prevent threats to the energy security of member states.
