Today, Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman for Russia’s Foreign Ministry, gave a frank answer as to why the outbreak of the “might is right” disease may be on the scene for a while, but will be crushed. Interviewed by RT on the occasion of Diplomatic Workers’ Day, she said that the future belongs to the multipolar world, even though building it will not come without a struggle. She proceeded to give an idea as to how Russia viewed such a struggle.
She first warned about “the desire and aspiration of a certain group of countries to once again play the game of exceptionalism and global dominance from a position of strength. And perhaps some will want to reinvent some kind of… unipolar world.” The trends when “whoever is stronger is right” will likely “gain momentum” in the coming years. However, she referenced the “brief historical moment” at the end of WWII, when the leading nations “dealt with countries that were less developed, less wealthy, less successful… not from a position of strength, power or aggression, but from a position of equality” and international law.
