On Feb. 8, the Russian news agency TASS published two articles spotlighting the views expressed by independent presidential candidate Diane Sare regarding what U.S. policy towards Russia and Ukraine should be. Each article describes Sare as a politician who, in January, put forward her candidacy as an independent candidate for the 2028 presidential election; each article also emphasizes her 32-year association with Lyndon LaRouche (1922-2019) and elaborates LaRouche’s background at length.
In the first article, titled “US should abandon double standards in relations with Russia—presidential candidate,” Sare is quoted on her advice to the current US administration of Donald Trump. Trump should “take a step back from his aggressive rhetoric, and consider the fact that we all live together on a very small planet which could not withstand a nuclear war between superpowers. Therefore, a new security and development architecture is needed which respects the sovereignty and security needs of each nation equally,” Sare said.
Sare further advises that, “If we look for areas of common benefit, I believe that this is possible. The double standards must be abandoned. Every nation, including the United States, must abide by standards established in international law.” Two possible projects are identified: build a tunnel under the Bering Strait, and create a joint system of asteroid defense.
The second article, titled “US policy on Ukraine should not be limited to profit—presidential candidate,” begins with Sare’s principled position that “The United States cannot play any productive role unless our leaders reject the ‘might makes right’ or ‘peace through strength’ doctrine, which seems to be guiding our policies, both in the international arena and at home.”
