Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi is in Geneva, having flown there on Sunday for Tuesday’s talks with White House envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. According to Tasnim, Araqchi expressed Tehran’s readiness to open a new chapter of regional cooperation based on dialogue and constructive engagement, describing neighbors as Iran’s top priority.
Referring to his trip to Doha last week and consultations with Qatari officials, Araqchi wrote on his Instagram account that during a short visit to Qatar, he had a useful meeting with Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, during which they exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments as well as the process of expanding bilateral relations.
He added that in the meeting both sides emphasized the necessity of strengthening joint cooperation among all regional countries in safeguarding regional security and stability. They also underscored the importance of preserving and enhancing security and stability in the region, “particularly regarding the issue of Palestine and the need to put an end to the crimes of the Zionist regime.”
Araqchi further stated that Iran is prepared, on the basis of shared regional will and interests, to remain committed to dialogue and constructive cooperation through new channels in order to shape a fresh chapter of regional cooperation in the fields of peace, security, and stability.
IRNA reported yesterday that Aragchi has other meeting in his agenda as well, including with the Swiss Foreign Minister, the Omani Foreign Minister, and the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
