U.S. Agro Trade Deficit $48 Billion in 2025; 2026 Gunboat Diplomacy Set for Six Nations To Import More from U.S.

The U.S. agriculture trade deficit for 2025 is expected to come in between $47-$49.5 billion, the largest in history, despite the Trump policy to impose “balanced” trade, pushed by U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer and Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins. The $48 billion figure is way up from the 2024 U.S. agriculture trade deficit of $31.8 billion.

In January the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced the six nations for which it plans agribusiness trade missions in 2026, to push U.S. exports. The countries and months for the visiting U.S. delegations: Indonesia (February), the Philippines (April), Turkiye (May), Australia and New Zealand (August), Saudi Arabia (September), and Vietnam (November).
