A January 30th interview with financial analyst Alex Krainer, done by EIR’s Harley Schlanger, was posted today, February 2. The interview is on EIR’s YouTube channel
In response to the question about President Trump’s threats to Iran to ‘make a deal or else,’ and who or what is behind this, Krainer said he could only guess. While not knowing Trump’s thinking, Krainer’s hypothesis is shaped by what Trump did previously when he threatened Iran. Krainer believes, despite the Zionist Lobby pressure on Trump to act, including from U.S. “Christian Zionists,” Trump may not launch a full war with Iran. Krainer surmises that an all-out attack would be too costly for the U.S., with no guarantee of success.
Krainer points to the British for the war push, recalling the 2019 press for war from the former U.K. Ambassador to Washington, Sir Kim Darroch. Krainer raised Joseph Conrad’s novel Heart of Darkness, saying he used to think that Conrad was referring to Africa as the source of “darkness,” but now he concludes that Conrad was actually referring to the British Empire and the City of London!
Krainer also presented his thoughts about what is behind the U.S. actions against Venezuela, attributing it to the new U.S. strategic doctrine which he sees as directed against the City of London.
