Speaking at the opening of the National People’s Congress in Beijing on March 4, NPC Spokesman Lou Qinjian replied to a question regarding U.S.-China relations. “China believes consistently that as two major countries of the world, China and the United States should respect each other, co-exist in peace, and pursue win-win cooperation,” he said. “As long as both sides fully implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, uphold an attitude of equality, respect, and mutual benefit, and extend the list of cooperation while reducing the list of issues, they can promote the stable development of bilateral relations.”
In spite of the U.S. attack on Iran, China is still intent on moving forward on the visit of President Donald Trump at the end of March. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent will be meeting with China’s Vice Premier He Lifeng in Paris next week to try to work out trade arrangements prior to the visit.
