Senator Alexei Pushkov, a member of the Russian Federation Council Constitutional Committee, commented on U.S. President Donald Trump’s war in Iran on his Telegram channel. If the U.S. continues to push for regime change and it ends up with “boots on the ground,” Puskov warned, “In this case, it won’t be Vietnam—there are no jungles in Iran. And it won’t be Iraq—Iran has a different, much more complex terrain. Iran has over 46,000 mountains! This will be a mountain war against a highly motivated enemy inspired by faith in Allah. The closest analogy is Afghanistan. 20 years of war. Trillions of dollars wasted. And the complete defeat of the United States,” he wrote.
