Iran’s Assembly of Experts has elected a successor to the murdered Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei but has not yet announced who he is. Ayatollah Seyed Ahmad Alamolhoda, representative of Khorasan Razavi in the Assembly of Experts, stated: “All rumors and reports suggesting that the Assembly of Experts has not yet made a decision are entirely false,” reported WANA. He added that, according to the constitution, no one, including the members of the Assembly of Experts, has the right to change their opinion. Ayatollah Alamolhoda highlighted that the process now depends on the secretary of the Assembly, Ayatollah Hosseini Bushehri, who is responsible for formally communicating the Assembly’s decision to the public.
