Iran University of Science and Technology in Tehran was hit by air strikes over the March 28-29 weekend, and a second university in Isfahan was struck. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a statement declaring that, in response, all U.S. and Israeli universities in the Middle East are now “legitimate targets,” the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported. According to an account published by RT, “Iran’s Foreign Ministry accused the U.S. and Israel of deliberately targeting the country’s scientific and cultural infrastructure, citing strikes on major universities in Isfahan and Tehran,” and that “the IRGC threatened to target two unnamed U.S.- and Israeli-linked educational facilities [in the region] unless Washington formally condemns Israel by 12:00 PM Tehran time on Monday, March 30.”
