Russia says Ukraine has been using drones to attack the TurkStream pipeline’s compressor stations in southern Russia, with 12 strikes in two weeks. The Russian Defense Ministry posted on Telegram that four Ukrainian drones were shot down by Russian air defense systems, two were intercepted by fighter aircraft, and three were destroyed by mobile fire teams.
TurkStream transports Russian gas to Türkiye and Southern Europe. According to Anadolu News, Gazprom stated that the Russkaya pumping station in southern Russia was again attacked via air, and that the day before, attacks on the Beregovaya and the Kazachya stations had been registered.
Last October, the Russian FSB warned that Ukraine and the UK were jointly preparing an attack on TurkStream. Moscow has said that such attacks are an attempt to sabotage the peace process. Now, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov responded to the attack, describing the strikes as “especially irresponsible against the backdrop of a global energy crisis that is brewing day by day.”
