On March 5, analyst and commentator Gilbert Doctorow spoke with EIR's Harley Schlanger, to present the case for the people of Europe to place Kaja Kallas, the Vice President of the European Commission, and Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission, on the European Council’s sanctions list. In his appeal, he said they deserved to be sanctioned as “Europe’s biggest disseminators of disinformation that is leading to a war that will see our utter destruction.”
Doctorow, who worked in Russia as a corporate executive and consultant, and is now featured in interviews on numerous podcasts, said that the draconian sanctions imposed on Swiss intelligence expert Jacques Baud convinced him that he must catalyze a response to the unchecked power wielded by the EU. The governing system we have in Europe, he explained, is “a throwback to the 18th century,” the power of the ancien regime vested in an “absolute monarchy.” There is no right to appeal sanctions imposed on people, which the Council identifies “to be in violation of the principles of the European Union.”
This power is being used by Kallas and von der Leyen to spread “disinformation.” Every time Kallas opens her mouth, said Doctorow, “she is spreading lies.” He cited the example of her claim that Russia is collapsing, and that Europe must militarize, “build an army to protect itself, preparing for war,” which in reality justifies a “theft of power by the European Commission from member states.” According to Doctorow, this is allowed by the form of parliamentary system in Europe, which is that of an “absolute monarchy,” unlike the American System, with the “separation of powers” which protects against the concentration of powers that leads to dictatorship. He identified England “as the Mother of this [parliamentary] system,” concluding this section of the interview by saying his initiative to bring people into action against Kallas and von der Leyen is a step toward organizing a mandate to redesign the EU.
He then spoke of why this is so critical. Power is concentrated in the EU in the hands of those like Kallas, von der Leyen, Starmer, and Merz who are committed to war against Russia. That danger is compounded by what he described as the “weakness of Putin.” With the launching of the U.S.-Israel war against Iran, he said, the limits Putin has placed on the military in Ukraine make no sense, and undermine his authority. He added that it is leading to increasingly open dissatisfaction among some of Russia’s leaders, which is just beginning to appear in public. Instead of relying on “negotiations” with U.S. President Donald Trump, he insisted Putin must use Russia’s military advantage to force Ukraine—and Europe—to end the war. He quipped that the book of his writings on the Russia-Ukraine war is already three volumes, and he is hoping the war will end before it goes to four or five volumes, or before annihilation in World War III.
