As a result of skyrocketing health care premiums, health insurance enrollment in the Garden State is 14% lower this year than last year. That means 69,000 New Jersey residents are no longer covered by medical insurance. Susan Ochs, Acting Commissioner of the Department of Banking and Insurance said, “We are seeing the heartbreaking consequences of the federal government’s failure to extend the enhanced premium tax credits for tens of thousands across the Garden State…. These individuals and families will now be at risk of forgoing important preventative care and left to rely on costly emergency services that they may not be able to afford.”
