U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi was fired last night by President Donald Trump, though it wasn’t announced until today. At a meeting at the White House, Trump told her of his decision, and contretemps ensued. A source of CNN called it a “tough” discussion. The Daily Mail’s source said, “She was unhappy and tried to change his mind.” She begged him not to fire her. And MailOnline reported a shouting match having occurred. Her deputy, Todd Blanche, will temporarily replace her.
There are various speculations in the media as to why she was fired. Trump’s Truth Social post did not throw any light on the matter: “Pam Bondi is a Great American Patriot and a loyal friend, who faithfully served as my Attorney General over the past year. Pam did a tremendous job… We love Pam, and she will be transitioning to a much needed and important new job in the private sector, to be announced at a date in the near future.” The only clarity here is that Bondi will not have another government posting, and the appearance is one of a hastily arranged affair.
On April 14, Bondi is scheduled to testify under oath to the House Oversight Committee, where the Epstein files are center stage. Bondi has a sketchy history on the matter. In February 2025, she staged a public event, with photo ops of MAGA influencers receiving red binders of Epstein files—but they proved to be nothing that had not already been released. Later, she claimed that she had a list of Epstein’s “clients” sitting on her desk “ready to review.” She later denied that any such list ever existed. She also said that she had seen the Epstein files and promised to release them. But she then reversed course, ordering the case to be closed, with her assurance that there was nothing new in them. Months of stonewalling followed. Congress kept pressure on the administration and, in December, passed a law requiring the release of all the files. The Department of Justice under Bondi still has not fully complied.
Whether or not such developments are connected to her dismissal, they are real; and given the roles of Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, and her father, Robert Maxwell, with British and Israeli intelligence, the questions swirling over Trump’s apparent submission to the Netanyahu agenda remain.
