The third Pakistan-China business-to-business (B2B) investment conference was held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, on Sunday, May 24, attracting more than 500 leading enterprises from both countries and producing approximately $1.22 billion in signed MoUs and cooperation agreements. The event was a centerpiece of Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s May 23-26 China visit.
The conference focused on three sectors: IT and telecoms, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and agriculture. In his keynote, Sharif urged Chinese companies to relocate industries to Pakistan and enter joint ventures with local firms, framing the offer as a “win-win” model: rising Chinese labor costs have opened opportunities for Pakistan to host industries where China is no longer cost-competitive.
