Ukraine’s notorious Myrotvorets operation added insult to injury on May 25 by adding 10 of the teachers and administrators of Russia’s Lugansk Pedagogical University to their hit list. Previously, Ukraine’s Armed Forces had applied the injury, repeatedly hitting a dormitory last Friday night, May 22, causing 62 casualties amongst the 86 teenagers sleeping there. As of yesterday, 21 of the casualties had died, with more in very serious condition. Of the deceased, most (18) were girls.
TASS reported on May 25 that “seven women and three men were added to the Ukrainian database, including the college’s deputy directors and teachers. The site’s authors, in particular, accused them of undermining Ukraine’s sovereignty and spreading propaganda among minors.” By this reasoning, anybody in any of the four oblasts that voted to join Russia in 2022 and are being governed by Russia can be targeted by Myrotvorets for elimination.
Ukraine’s General Staff, immediately after the assault, issued a particularly snide cover story:
a) Russian media regularly push “manipulative information” but AFU strictly adheres to international humanitarian law. Then their attempt at light-hearted irony (machine translated): “Please be informed that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are violating military infrastructure and facilities used for military purposes.”
