Iran has rejected U.S. Central Command’s assertion that the US military doesn’t bomb civilians, in the aftermath of the US strike on a wedding celebration in Sirik on Tuesday night. “We’re aware of the reports, which originated from Iranian state media,” Centcom spokesman Capt. Tim Hawkins told US media outlets yesterday. “The U.S. military never targets civilians, unlike the IRGC.”
The IRGC ridiculed the Centcom statement in a statement of its own calling it an “absurd claim” that the U.S. repeats “even though the brutality of the American terrorist army has a repeated record, and the disgrace of this crime will never be erased from the foreheads of the leaders of the White House.”
Then the IRGC includes a list of 8 other weddings that the US or its allies have bombed since 2002:
• July 1, 2002: More than 100 people were martyred in the bombing of a wedding in Kakarak, Uruzgan Province, Afghanistan.
• September 18, 2003: More than five people were killed and wounded in the bombing of a wedding in Fallujah, Iraq.
• May 19, 2004: 42 people were martyred in the bombing of a wedding in Bakr al-Dhib village, Anbar Province, Iraq.
