A Ukrainian drone struck a passenger train in Crimea traveling from Simferopol to Moscow overnight on June 7-8, killing the assistant train driver and wounding the driver. No passengers were injured.
The rail operator, Grand Service Express, posted an official announcement:
“Scheduled passenger train operations in Crimea have been suspended. Overnight, the locomotive of train No. 68 (Moscow–Simferopol) was damaged in a UAV attack. None of the passengers were injured. The assistant train driver was killed, and the locomotive driver was wounded. Passengers from all trains currently on the Crimean Peninsula have been evacuated.”
Kremlin Spokesman Dmitri Peskov was asked about the incident on Monday:
“It was a criminal action by the Kiev regime. Such actions significantly complicate any further attempts to move towards a peaceful settlement.”
