A Dialogue of Civilizations: Development or World War III

That is the provocative title of the lead panel of the upcoming July 31 EIR Roundtable Dialogue, which over the course of the day will include presentations and deliberation among prominent political, religious, economic, and youth leaders from 14 countries on every continent. It will truly be the seed crystal of the kind of Dialogue of Civilizations needed to pull humanity back from the brink of systemic economic breakdown and impending nuclear war.
Both of those dangers are increasing appreciably by the day. British-centered financial interests are on a drive to convert their two leading geopolitical wars—Ukraine and Iran—into a single world war, and at the same time widen the theater of war in all directions to include more countries. The visit of the two British policy stooges—Israel’s Bibi Netanyahu and Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelensky—to the United States for meetings with President Trump on Tuesday, July 28, serves as a useful metaphor for how the British are intent on bringing their two wars into a single operation.
Russian military analyst Alexander Stepanov, from the Institute of Law and National Security, which is a division of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) in Moscow, explained to Sputnik that precisely that was the purpose of the July 25 Ukrainian attack on an Iranian ship in the Caspian Sea. “The strategic aim is to widen the escalation zone, push it into a new phase, and facilitate the involvement of NATO countries under the guise of legal justification,” Sputnik paraphrased Stepanov. “What is emerging is an additional belt of instability, created through the use of terrorist methods carried out by US proxies,” Stepanov said.
Gideon Rachman, the chief foreign affairs commentator of the Financial Times, came to a similar conclusion, albeit coming from an opposite policy direction, writing on July 27 that an “axis of adversaries” has come into existence, due to the “growing alignment between Russia, China, Iran and North Korea.” He said that one of the advantages of Ukraine joining in the attacks on Iran is that “US efforts to blockade Iran are also hampered by the fact that Iranian goods and oil can cross the Caspian to Russia. Disrupting that route would help any American effort to collapse Iran’s economy.”
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was blunt about the implications of the newest attacks for global security, and the actions Russia is prepared to take: “The geography of the Kiev regime’s terrorist activities is expanding, which again highlights the need for a successful and complete special military operation.” The threat posed by the Kiev regime “must be prevented and totally eliminated.”
Schiller Institute founder Helga Zepp-LaRouche stated in her July 29 weekly webcast:
“If this thing is not stopped, we are so close to a catastrophe of human history that I can only say: people who are concerned must step forward and express their views. Because I think only if we have a public discussion, not only that this has to stop, but also what should be done instead,” can a solution be found. She elaborated: “I have been advising since the beginning of the war in Ukraine that we need to move to a new security and development architecture, because it’s very clear the old order is breaking down—it has broken down…. The so-called unipolar world has broken down completely. You have multipolar chaos in the world. So, I think we are really on the edge of a disaster if we don’t turn this around very rapidly.”
