According to [an analysis published Sunday in Iran’s Nour News, the ongoing Egyptian-Chinese air forces exercise, along with another exercise with the UAE that was just announced, are more than just military exercises. “China’s joint military exercises with Egypt and the UAE go beyond military cooperation. They point to a gradual shift in regional security dynamics—one that highlights declining confidence in Washington, Beijing’s expanding security role, and the world’s broader move toward multilateralism.”
After describing China’s changed calculations as a response to US pressure to contain China, Nour reports: “Joint military exercises with Iran, Pakistan and Russia, and now Egypt and the UAE, together with Beijing’s stated readiness to help ease tensions around the Strait of Hormuz, indicate that security is no longer merely a regional concern for China. It is gradually becoming an integral part of the country’s global role.”
“These developments should be viewed within the broader context of changes in the international system,” Nour continues. “The prolonged wars led by the United States, its insistence on unilateralism, and the high costs of dependence on a single security provider have prompted many countries to reconsider their strategic calculations.
