Yesterday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei posted on X a cartoon of a dog sitting at a table with a cup of coffee on it and surrounded by flames. The dog says “This is fine.”
Baqaei wrote: “Those who prefer to appear ‘as obedient as shadows’ say: ‘This is fine.’”
“But hold on. It is absolutely not fine.
“When a bully declares that every bank, company, port, and government must choose between obeying Washington’s whims or facing American vengeance, this is no longer just about Iran. It is about annihilating the most foundational rules of international law and the UN Charter—namely, respect for the sovereign equality and self-determination of all States.
“No decent State that values its sovereignty and national interests will accept the normalization of such grand lawlessness and systemic bullying. Canada is among those already learning that lesson....”
